I don’t know about you guys but I always appreciate suggestions from others when it comes to everything from playlists to books to podcasts to articles and more…so I thought I’d do a round up of things I’ve been listening to and reading this summer.
I am almost always listening to low-key/chill music when I’m working on the computer and one of the first things I do when I walk in the house is to turn on Pandora or Spotify on the big speakers. It depends on the day for music – if it’s been a mentally stressful day I like to listen to worship music, or if I need to clean up a bit I turn on Jack Garrett Radio.
Here’s what’s been playing on repeat lately.
Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant To Be by Rachel Hollis: This was highly recommended and an easy listen with some great reminders about personal power and taking responsibility for your life and your health and happiness.
Purple Cow: If you’re in marketing or starting a new business, read this book. It’s short and sweet but left me asking + searching for the Purple Cow in everything.
(Article) Why The Rocks Social Media Muscle Made Him Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actor -I really believe everyone needs to read this article. In 2010, Dwyane Johnson said he was a private person and that social media wasn’t for him. Later that year, he reached out to a marketing agency and said he was ready to go. For everyone who is uncomfortable with embracing social media, you’re not alone. This is a continued case study for history and view into what the future holds.
I listen to podcasts all the time…when I’m walking Goose, driving in the car, folding laundry, doing food prep, traveling, etc. Here are some favorite episodes as of late!
America’s Got Talent – This show just makes me smile. Sometimes I’ll pop an episode on after work to clear my mind.
The Bold Type – This brings me back to my journalism days. It’s touching, funny and talks about real, current issues today. Love it!
Please share your favorite summer reads and listens so far. I’d love any book or podcast suggestions you might have!
